Review: I'm going to keep this one short and sweet. I very rarely say this but the movie is better than the book in this case. I did NOT care for all the "extras" that were put into the book at all. For me personally, the book was pretty much the movie word for word plus all those extremely unwanted "extras."

Synopsis: He was etched by the desert’s howling winds, a big, broad-shouldered man who knew the ways of the Apache and the ways of staying alive. She was a woman alone raising a young son on a remote Arizona ranch. And between Hondo Lane and Angie Lowe was the warrior Vittoro, whose people were preparing to rise against the white men. Now the pioneer woman, the gunman, and the Apache warrior are caught in a drama of love, war, and honor.

Review: Louie does it again in my opinion! This is another one of his novels that was turned into a movie featuring my favorite actor of ALL TIME John Wayne. There really is a lot going on in this book...The Apaches are uprising....Angie Lowe and her little boy have been left to fend for themselves on their ranch (which is on a watering hole that the Apaches frequent), the army is trying to get the Apache situation under control while trying to save the lives of the families around the fort and Hondo Lane is in the middle running dispatch for the army while trying to keep not only himself alive but also Angie and her little boy.

Lots of drama....Lots of gun play....Lots of all the things that make a Louis L'Amour western a Louis L'Amour novel.

Synopsis: One day Michael Oher will be among the most highly paid athletes in the National Football League. When we first meet him, he is one of thirteen children by a mother addicted to crack; he does not know his real name, his father, his birthday, or how to read or write. He takes up football, and school, after a rich, white, evangelical family plucks him from the streets. Then two great forces alter Oher: the family's love and the evolution of professional football itself into a game in which the quarterback must be protected at any cost. Our protagonist becomes the priceless package of size, speed, and agility necessary to guard the quarterback's greatest vulnerability: his blind side.

Review: I saw the trailer for the movie first one day and decided that that was one of those movies that I MUST see. The next day on a whim I was surfing the Barnes and Noble webpage and I did a random search to see if The Blind Side was in book form. As we can all see it oh so very much is in book form and scores high on my review scale too! I'm not going to say a whole lot about this one because I don't want to give away too much.

Now if your not much of a football fan I would probably recommend skipping the book form. The book itself starts off with a little history of the "game" (and there are "history lessons" thrown in through out the book, but they all tie in to the story) and your about 3 chapters in before you even meet Michael Oher. Once you meet Michael and you learn just a teeny tiny bit about him you can totally understand why his "new family" took him in and loved on him and why he in turn turned around and loved on them in return.

School wasn't easy for Michael....He had to become academically eligible before he could even start playing sports at all. Football didn't come easy to Michael...He started out a basketball player and dabbled in Track too. But once he got the hang of football well to quote the late great Paul Harvey.... "Now you know the rest of the story." We'll put it this way in all of College football only one school didn't offer Michael a full scholarship to there school and that was Penn State.

I would totally recommend this book to pretty much anyone. Even though it is pretty football heavy (not always pertaining to Michael) it is still a very great story. A story that says even great things can come from a not so great beginning. In short: READ IT! TODAY!

The Blind Side Trailer

I can hardly wait to pick this book up at the bookstore later this morning! The trailer makes this movie peak at the top of my "must see this movie" list!
